The large Hvezda lake (superficies 0.82-0.96 sq km, volume 1.6 mil m3) on the river Trebovka, between the villages Opatov and Trebovice, was grounded by Albrecht of Sternberg, the bishop of Litomysl, in 1372. There are also some more smaller lakes around Hvezda that were also built in the 14th century. All the lakes together form an important firsher area and bird breeding place. After the big flood in 1997, the intensions on a large reconstruction of the old lake dike arose, so that the lake could protect the villages and towns, that are situated down along the river Trebovka (among them also Ceska Trebova). The Hvezda lake withstood the big flood, but the dike was damaged and especially the outlet regulation was far from up-to-date stand. Since 1997 to 2002 a few dry polders were constructed above Hvezda, but the the recostruction of the lake itself was being postponed. It began only in 2004.
